The Tan Folding Armchair is the kind of seat you reach for when the plan is to stay put for a few hours. It is built around a matte black steel frame that folds flat, with wide, gently curved armrests upholstered in the same tan fabric as the seat and backrest, so elbows rest on soft padding instead of cold tube steel. The low, deep seat sits close to the ground, which is the right geometry for a relaxed campsite posture rather than an upright dining-chair posture, and the backrest is stitched in two padded sections to give your upper and lower back separate support.
The fabric cover is a tight-woven tan canvas blend that holds its shape without feeling stiff. It is sewn over a thin layer of padding so the seat does not bottom out after an hour or two, and the cover slides off for spot cleaning or a quick wipe with a damp cloth. The color reads as a warm earthy brown-tan rather than a bright orange, which pairs naturally with wooden tabletops, olive green gear and the usual campground palette.
The black steel frame uses a single-piece bent-tube construction for the under-seat rocker base, so there are fewer joints to come loose. It folds in half along the side hinge and tucks into an included carry bag that clips shut at the top, which makes it easy to sling over a shoulder on the walk from the car park to the pitch. The frame is powder-coated to resist light rain and the occasional splash from a kettle, and the tube ends are capped so they will not scratch wooden decks or indoor flooring.
Because the seat sits low, this chair works well around a low folding camp table, on a beach, on a lawn or on a patio. It also pairs with a small side table that clips onto one armrest if you want a dedicated spot for a mug and a book. The armrests are wide enough to hold a ceramic mug on their own when you are careful, and the fabric surface does not conduct heat the way plastic armrests do in direct sun.
We designed this chair for customers who already own a standard camping chair and want a second, more comfortable seat for base camp. It is not the lightest chair on the market and it is not built for fast-and-light backpacking, but it is the chair you sit down in when you have arrived, made camp, and intend to stay. The padded cover is removable, so at the end of a long season you can take it off, wash it on a gentle cycle, and put it back on without buying a new chair. The frame itself only needs a wipe down and the occasional check on the hinge bolts. Wipe the fabric, fold the frame, and it will go back into the car just as quickly as it came out, ready for the next trip.
